2 months agoDavid is the most friendly, accommodating, and aggressive agent I could have asked for! I have worked with other agents who just hand you off as you move forward, but David starts with you and stays with you!

3 months agoWe had a great experience with David and Old Houses Japan. It was a very smooth process as he’s clearly a pro at this. We would have been lost without all the support from his network. We live in Hawaii so he even handed all of the notary as well as signing all documents via power of attorney. Thank you so much!

3 months agoI thought it was time for me to write an overdue and overwhelmingly positive and sincere thank you to David and Victoria from Old Houses Japan. I have been living in my new house in Otaru Japan for the last 4 weeks and I am beyond pleased, I am absolutely ecstatic with my new purchase! It has far exceeded all my expectations and I have Old houses Japan to thank for making the dream of owning a house in Otaru Japan a fabulous reality. I first made contact with David in February 2025, by March we were viewing properties and by July we had completed the contract on my amazing new home in Otaru Japan! In the lead up to contacting Old houses Japan, I had done significant research on the area’s I was interested in for different reasons, in the end I chose my house for the location and potential for Air BnB in the winter months when the ski season is in full swing. I chose to purchase a property that only requires cosmetic renovations. I have not been disappointed since moving in, my house is 3 minutes by car to the cable car up the mountain to the slopes, 2 minute walk to regular public transport into town and an 8 minute walk to the nearest 7 eleven and laundromat. The whole experience was so easy and pain free, from start to finish. Regular checkin’s and calls from David keep everything moving, positive and exciting ! I can’t thank them enough ! A massive thank you also goes to Ayumi the most wonderful Japanese agent in the world and Hirotaka for his stress free and English friendly legal services. If you are thinking of purchasing property in Japan, Old Houses Japan make things hassle free and enjoyable. In my case, I now own the Japanese home that I was dreaming of. My best advice is to know what it is you are trying to achieve and let Old houses Japan make it happen.

5 months agoAs someone who previously lived in Japan, it has always felt like my second home and purchasing my Akiya has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Old Houses Japan made the process seamless. From our very first video call, David walked me through every step, from searching to closing. What could have been a complex and overwhelming process was made simple, transparent, and stress-free. If you’re even remotely considering doing this, I’d say book a consultation and see—because it has brought me so much joy. Naturally, you do have to think about paying up front, as there are no mortgages for foreigners in Japan, and if you’re buying an Akiya, you’ll likely be renovating too, which is worth factoring in. Five months later, standing in my new home with keys in hand, I was in disbelief— I’m so grateful for Old Houses Japan for turning my dream into reality
