Old Houses Japan made the process seamless. From our very first video call, David walked me through every step, from searching to closing. What could have been a complex and overwhelming process was made simple, transparent, and stress-free. If you’re even remotely considering doing this, I’d say book a consultation and see—because it has brought me so much joy. Naturally, you do have to think about paying up front, as there are no mortgages for foreigners in Japan, and if you’re buying an Akiya, you’ll likely be renovating too, which is worth factoring in. Five months later, standing in my new home with keys in hand, I was in disbelief— I’m so grateful for Old Houses Japan for turning my dream into reality

6 months agoThe Old House Japan team is top notch. We acquired a house in Otaru outside of Sapporo with their help. They did a great job at removing the anxiety that comes with acquiring a property from outside of the US. They have a great network of contacts to help facilitate this transaction. The team assisted us in locating the property that met our needs, and we are very happy with the result. The team effectively and clearly explained what is needed for the purchase, step by step with the costs. They assisted us in our negotiating with the seller and signing of the contract, and gave us the documents that had to be signed and notarized. They also scheduled the video inspection/walk-through of the property and assisted us with basics like getting utilities up and running. I was even able to meet the team in person for the contract signing in Otaru!
