FAQ

Is it easy to set up a PMA and what are the requirements with regards to an office and hiring staff?

It’s fairly easy and takes about 30-days to set up a PMA. You do need a commercial address (many companies provide this) and hiring staff depends on your requirements. You are not obliged to hire staff.

If I set up a company to purchase a freehold villa do I need to become a resident of Bali?

No, you don’t need to be a resident, unless you do want to work here and then you do need a work permit.

We are looking at buying a property in Bali. Would you advise to buy freehold or leasehold?

This depends on you. Some property purchases are ROI driven, some are asset driven and some both. Leasehold usually means a cheaper price and therefore higher ROI. But it’s an asset that’s declining in value. The area is also something to consider. Canggu, for example has very high freehold prices so you might want to consider the cheaper leasehold options available in the area.

Can I work in Indonesia with a visitor or business visa?

No, visitor visas (e.g., VOA, B211A) and business visas (e.g., C2, D2) prohibit profit-making activities, such as employment. These visas are for tourism, meetings, or non-work-related visits. To work legally, you need a Work KITAS (C312), which requires sponsorship from an Indonesian company and approvals from the Ministry of Manpower. We can help you secure the appropriate work permit.

What happens if I don’t enter Indonesia within 90 days of visa issuance?

For most E-Visas (e.g., C2, D2, B211A), you must enter Indonesia within 90 days of issuance, or the visa becomes invalid, and you’ll need to reapply. Seven Stones Indonesia is not responsible for unused visas but can assist with reapplication for IDR 4,500,000 (onshore visa) or a new offshore application. Always plan your travel within the 90-day window.

How long does it take to process a visa with Seven Stones Indonesia?

Processing times vary by visa type: 1. Visa on Arrival (VOA): Issued upon arrival or processed in advance as an E-Visa. 2. Single Entry Visitor Visas (B211A, B211B, B211C): Typically 7-10 working days. 3. Single Entry Business Visa (C2): 7-10 working days. 4. Multiple Entry Business Visa (D2): 7-10 working days. 5. Spousal or Work KITAS: 2-4 weeks, depending on documentation and approvals. 6. Second Home or Golden Visa: 2-4 weeks, subject to investment verification. Expedited services are available for some visas. Note that processing times exclude weekends and public holidays, and delays may occur if documentation is incomplete.
