Agent assisting in helping find Akiya (abandoned cheap properties) in Japan.
The traditional Japanese houses listed on KORYOYA are all built before 1950 with the traditional construction method. The traditional method is the result of more than a thousand years of past carpenters passing down their efforts and wisdoms. As no new houses can be built with the traditional construction method under current law, the high craftsmanship is in danger of becoming a dying art.
The population of Japan is declining, and rural communities are dying day by day. We hope each of the property listed on KORYOYA can serve as a catalyst to help revive the withering communities of Japan. As these traditional houses get restored, preserved, and utilized, we hope that both the tangible and intangible cultural treasures of Japan can be passed on to the future generations hundreds of years from today.

a year agoThank you so much for all the help when finding a house in Japan! Steve was very helpfull in everything with the aplications but also setting up utility after I had bought the house. The house was in great condition and he was true about the condition when I bought it without having to see it in-person untill I arived in Kyoto. He was great when I met him in-person for accepting the documents in Kyoto for the first time as all interviews were done via web-cam. That was great to be able to do the whole process via web!

a year agoSteven has been a wonderful guide during our searches for a house in Japan. Listening to us, responding as well as possible to our requests, even the most complicated. Even if we had to drop our project due to personal issues, Steven has been really supportive and comprehensive. Thank you very much.
