3 weeks agoI've noticed it has more and more facilities now, which is quite nice. Besides the riverbank, there are many more benches... Everyone should come and take a walk. Cycling is also an option, and the sunsets are especially beautiful.

3 months agoLocated on the westernmost side of Tainan's South District, the Sikunshen Coast in Tainan City is a vital part of Tainan's coastline, renowned for its rich fishing village culture, historical relics, and unique mangrove ecosystem. The following is information about the Sikunshen Coast: Tainan City Sikunshen Coast The Sikunshen settlement, the fourth of the seven "kunshen" (sandbars) in the former Taijiang Inland Sea, is the core of the local traditional fishing village culture. Together with Xishu (Wukunshen) and Wanli (Liukunshen) to the south, it forms the renowned "Kunxiwan Cultural Park." I. Historical Geography and Cultural Core Geographical Concept: During the Taijiang Inland Sea era, Kunshen was an outlying sandbar, named for its shape resembling a whale's back. Located south of Anping Harbor in Tainan, the Sikunshen settlement is an ancient fishing village on the coastline. Kunshen Worship: The Four Kunshen community is centered around the local Longshan Temple, dedicated to Qingshui Zushigong. Known as the "founding temple of the Four Kunshen ancestors in Taiwan," its history dates back to the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1665), making it a core religious and cultural landmark. Traditional Industries: The settlement's residents primarily engage in traditional fishing and the farming of fresh oysters and milkfish, retaining a strong fishing village atmosphere. II. Coastal Landscape and Ecological Features Mangrove Wetlands: The Four Kunshen settlement boasts extensive mangrove channels and Kunshen Lake. This wetland boasts a rich ecosystem, allowing close observation of diverse species such as fiddler crabs and egrets. Eco-tourism Boat Tours: In recent years, local authorities have actively promoted eco-tourism boat tours of the mangroves, allowing visitors to experience the life of oyster farmers, admire the sights of Anping Commercial Port, and take guided tours of the mangrove ecosystem. Seaview Skybridge and Grassland: Near the coastline lies the famous landmark, the "Sikunshen Seaview Skybridge" (also known as the Longgang Skybridge). From the bridge, you can overlook the expansive sandy coastline, green windbreaks, and vast grasslands, offering a stunning vantage point for appreciating the stunning sea-sky juxtaposition. III. Environmental Development and Current Project Status Environmental Improvement Project: The "Tainan City South District Kunshen Seawall Environmental Improvement Project" is currently underway along the Sikunshen coastline. The project aims to transform the previously rigid concrete seawall into an ecological green embankment focused on four key areas: tide safety, ecological sustainability, distinctive cultural heritage, and energy conservation and carbon reduction. Lohas Corridor: This project will improve the bicycle path atop the seawall, connecting it to the surrounding natural waterfront attractions. The project will also connect to the Golden Coast Corridor Park to the south, creating a safer, more water-friendly coastal recreational space and restoring the coastline's splendor. Alley Exploration: In addition to the coastline, the alleys within the Sikunshen settlement are also full of surprises, such as the "194 Art Alley" near Longshan Temple and the ancient "Longmu Well" (Dingtou Ancient Well), which showcase the achievements of the community's cultural and historical development.
