a week agoCampanario de Dumaguete 🔔 A charming and historic bell tower right beside St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral. When I visited, there was ongoing repair and restoration, so access and views were limited, but it was still nice to see this important landmark up close. It’s one of those spots that quietly reflects Dumaguete’s history. Nearby places you can visit: St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral – right beside the campanario ⛪ Quezon Park – across the street, good for resting or people-watching 🌳 Rizal Boulevard – a short walk for seaside strolls and food trips 🌊 Silliman University Campus – nearby and relaxing to walk around Downtown Dumaguete cafés & restos – plenty of options around the area ☕🍽️ Best included as part of a short walking tour around Dumaguete’s city center.

2 months agoHistoric landmark that towers gracefully above Rizal Boulevard in the city. Built in the 18th century, this ancient belfry once served both as a watchtower and refuge against invaders. Its sturdy stone structure, simple yet elegant design, and musical bells evoke a sense of timelessness. Visitors can admire it up close, photograph its weathered walls, and appreciate its significant role in Dumaguete’s heritage. Surrounded by gentle sea breezes and scenic coastal views, the Campanario is a peaceful reminder of the city’s past.
