Bluff Beach Retreat

Mr. Dennis (owner) is accommodating and patient with guest requests. Anita and Agusto (hosts) are WONDERFUL! They cook delicious breakfast every morning. They have accommodated every request from our family. They even provided a special birthday surprise for us. I cannot say enough good about this hotel and their staff!

Loved the location and property. I stayed in the two bedroom casita with a shared bathroom. While it was clean and private, the bedrooms were very small and there was no air conditioning because it is an off grid property. It was very warm during the day, but quite comfortable at night with the ceiling fan on. The hosts and chef were phenomenal. From beginning to end they had smiles on their faces and went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. The food was delicious and healthy and food allergies and preferences were accommodated. Augusto, Anita and their son were a pleasure and the chef Nicole was amazing. The massage therapist Maria was small but mighty! Her massages in the outdoor gazebo were one of the highlights of my trip. I fell in love with Oliver the horse I rode. All the horses were well taken care of and had full reign of the adjacent farm which we got a tour of. But Oliver was a special horse so make sure you request him if you are not a confident rider. The beach was stunning but unfortunately due to the time of year, not safe to swim in due to the riptides but the beach walks were lovely and I felt very safe. The ocean waves were very loud at night but I found it extremely soothing but others found it difficult to fall asleep to. There are sloths on the property! We had the privilege of witnessing a mama sloth with her newborn right in front of the deck! That was so magical to see! I loved this place. It was perfect for the yoga retreat i was on. The outdoor yoga studio was in the middle of the jungle. It was so peaceful listening to the wildlife while practicing yoga. The wifi was great! Although I wish it wasn’t Starlink given the current political climate but I had no complaints regarding connectivity. This place is a once in a lifetime experience that I am so glad I was able to experience it. You are literally in the middle of the jungle with the ocean at your doorstep.

Bluff Beach Retreat is an absolute paradise! Augusto was amazing—he made everything so easy for us and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. The retreat itself is stunning, surrounded by nature and just steps from the beach. It’s the perfect place to unwind, disconnect, and feel a genuine sense of community. And Nicole’s cooking? Absolutely incredible! Every meal was delicious, and we’ve been missing her cooking every day since we left. If you’re looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway with warm hospitality and amazing food, Bluff Beach Retreat is the place to be. We can’t wait to come back!

We just returned from a week long yoga retreat and it was FANTASTIC! This place is truly magical and I cannot recommend it enough. There are monkeys and sloths everywhere, the food was amazing, the facilities are beautiful and well kept. Augusto and Nicole were amazing. An easy 5 star review!

This is a beautiful, well run resort. The on site managers, Augusto and Anita, are absolutely wonderful and provide outstanding service, care of guests, and management of the facility and staff. Ron, the owner, provided fantastic pre-stay information and organized airport pick ups. Breakfasts by Anita are delicious and she varies the special local dishes she makes along with custom egg offerings and plenty of fresh local fruit and juice. Augusto is wonderful in sharing his knowledge of the area and generally providing care and concierge services. All the staff we met were polite, well-trained, and courteous. The setting - across from the beach, yet in the rainforest is gorgeous with sloths and parrots and monkeys hanging out in the beautiful gardens. The lap pool is a great addition, as are the yoga platform and massage studio, both open air and surrounded by rainforest. The facilities are simple but elegant and the fans provide enough ventilation that AC is not needed and would imho spoil the jungle living. There were no mosquitoes or bugs of any kind. There is good food close by at a number of places but the View was particularly good. If you don’t want to cook there is food available there within a five minute walk for both lunch and dinner with more good food available within a 10-15 minute beach walk or a 5 minute bike ride. My only issue is that it is not an adult-only resort and therefore not what would generally be considered a retreat but we knew that before we went and are not complaining. This is really a comment for future visitors. There were some pretty noisy small children belonging to guests running around at breakfast and at the pool most of our stay. The host’s son is quiet and well behaved and was not one of them. We were thankfully away from the main house in the Playa Casita but could still hear children screaming at the pool at regular intervals and during breakfast. Even so I still consider this an outstanding five star resort and would not hesitate to go back. Thanks to everyone for making our stay there so fantastic
