Germany has the following benefits:

  • Germany offers a high-quality education system, including free or low-cost public schooling and tuition-free higher education for both domestic and international students. This makes it an attractive destination for families and students.
  • Germany ranks high in terms of quality of life, with excellent public services, clean cities, and a good balance between work and leisure.

Downsides of Germany:

  • While the healthcare system is excellent, it can be costly for those who are not part of the public system or who need to pay for private health insurance. Navigating the health insurance options can be confusing for newcomers.
  • Germany has a progressive tax system with relatively high income taxes, especially when compared to some other countries.
  • High cost of living.

The service was not so efficient. After delivering in person the necessary documents correctly, in order to obtain the Visa I needed to call 5 times and send 2 e-mails. The invoices were messed up, the e-mails left unanswered, and there is confusion of which person is following which account number.

Worst service ever imaginable! No professional advice was given nor travel information. Visa Dienst Bonn over promise, and under deliver - like any money driven business! My grivence: Upon obtaining and checking my visa it wasn't what I had applied for, therefore I called to request further information, which the lady on the phone was not able to provide - I was told to check the embassy's website, as if I didn't do my research, which I found extremely rude. Having done my research I insisted for the exact link she was referring to as I had not come across the information she was referring to. The link had no relevant information, which added to my disappointment. I therefore called a second time asking for more accurate information, and spoke to a different lady who was extremely unpleasant, aggressive and EVEN HUNG UP THE PHONE!!! I was not listened to at all. Unfortunately calls are not recorded like in England.

Unreliable service! I bought a 60 day visa and was told twice by phone that everything was correct. However, at the airport it turned out that the visa was only valid for 30 days. Because of this mistake I had to pay a fine of €527. Not recommended!

Communication before submission is sparse, there is no indication as to whether applications have been checked and what happens next. My first visa was incorrect and had to be corrected, wrong passport number - so apparently it wasn't checked with the enclosed photocopies. Luckily, the whole thing was submitted earlier than discussed with me over the phone when I asked, otherwise it would have been too tight for me to enter the country.
