  • Schengen Visa

    Iceland is a member of the Schengen cooperation. It is a collaboration of 29 countries that aims to ensure the free movement of people across the borders of the member states. A uniform visa is issued by all Schengen countries and is valid for travel throughout the entire area. If you have already received a Schengen visa, you do not need to apply separately for a visa to travel to Iceland.   • Long Term Visa

    A long-term visa authorizes a person to stay in Iceland for up to 90 days beyond the time a person could normally stay in the country as a tourist, regardless of whether he is required to have a visa or not. A long-term visa may only be issued once per 12-month period. The holder of a long-term visa does not receive a social security number and may not work in Iceland. Conditions You can be issued a long-stay visa if: you are legally staying in this country, you do not intend to settle in the country, the purpose of the stay does not fall under any residence permit category, you have not been issued a long-term visa in the last 12 months.

  • Long-term visa for remote work

Spouses and common-law partners can be issued a long-term visa as relatives of a person working remotely, if they are exempt from the obligation to sign. Children of persons working remotely or their spouses/partners can be issued a long-term visa as relatives of a person working remotely, if they are under 18 years of age and exempt from the signature requirement.
