Pleasant and swift experience with the visa application process. The consulate opened exactly at 9AM. The Thai citizens who came after me were allowed to go in first without appointments. The process was fast so it wasn’t an issue.
There were parking lots nearby.
I had a bad experience. First of all it’s outside under plastic umbrellas that don’t protect you from the heavy rain. everything gets wet, chairs, table, there is not enough space under umbrella for everyone. not ideal when you are waiting there with your paper documents. Then, I applied for a work visa. They claimed one of my documents needed from my employer was missing. My employer claimed it wasn’t on the list and that all information the consulate requires was with me. This whole situation took 40 min until they closed for lunch. They told me to redo a letter and print something else (I don’t know, it’s from the employer and in Thai) and allowed me to come back in the afternoon. I ran around rainy HCMC for 2 hours trying to do it and then came back when they reopened. They still wouldn’t accept my paperwork. I got soaked wet and spent another hour explaining my situation. Finally, they agreed to accept my paperwork but warned me that I’ll get refused and loose my money. I was willing to risk it as I would loose way more flying back here for another appointment. I spent 3 days dreading the refusal, and when came back luckily consul granted me the visa. It seems to me that my paperwork from my employer was enough and my hr was right. Disclaimer: I am not blaming anyone, I understand people were just trying to do their job. I’m just sharing my horrible experience.
They will start working from 9:00 to 11:30 in the morning and from 13:30 to 15:00 in the afternoon.
It depends on which officers who check your profile and they might ask for more documents even though those docs are not listed on the Consulate’s website (like police check). The most unreasonable point you guys need to be aware is that they will check for every single corner of your dollars and require you to change it if the dollars do not pass the officer’s visual check.
Horrible experience. What's the point in booking a slot if you still have to wait in line anyway?
One lady even glare when talking to people. She needs to check her attitude. Just because you're employed at a consulate doesn't mean you have the rights to treat people awfully.
Really nice people in there, same as immigration on the airport in Thailand. The Thai officials are generally respectful, treat people with dignity and it is pretty much the best experience out of all embassies and officials I’ve experienced.
