Panama has the following benefits:

  • Friendly Visa and Residency Programs.
  • Panama uses the U.S. dollar as its official currency.
  • Panama offers good quality healthcare, especially in larger cities. Healthcare costs are much lower than in the U.S. or Europe.
  • Panama is known for being a tax-friendly country.

Downsides of Panama:

  • While Panama is generally affordable, Panama City can be expensive, especially for housing, dining, and certain imported goods.
  • Spanish is the official language of Panama, and while many Panamanians, especially in Panama City, speak English, it’s important to learn some basic Spanish to navigate daily life and interact with locals outside the city.

The visa also grants Italian citizens the right to own property and receive the same benefits as local citizens in terms of taxation, social security, and healthcare. The visa does not, however, grant Italian citizens the right to acquire Panamanian citizenship.
