Bantayan Bay operates primarily as a public beach destination managed by the Municipal Government of Cordova. The beach is open to swimmers daily from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While it was originally opened entirely free to the public, localized structural maintenance and environmental fees are now strictly applied based on age brackets: Children (1 to 8 years old): Free Teens (9 to 17 years old): ₱10 PHP (approx. $0.18 USD) Adults (18 years old and above): ₱20 PHP (approx. $0.35 USD)
The beach is situated at Sitio Bantayan, Barangay Poblacion, Cordova, Cebu, Philippines (on the southern tip of Mactan Island, roughly 45 minutes away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport). Unlike the deep, rocky shores common to the area, Bantayan Bay features an expansive, shallow white sandbar surrounded by calm, turquoise waters and nearby mangrove plants. During clear days, the waist-level water behaves like a giant natural swimming pool, giving it a scenic aesthetic that locals frequently compare to a budget-friendly "Bora Bora" or "Maldives" right in Cordova.
To protect the coastal ecosystem and preserve public order, the local government enforces strict beach guidelines. Prohibited activities include smoking, drinking alcohol, gambling, littering, bringing glass utensils, unauthorized overnight camping, and playing loud music. Grilling and cooking are strictly limited to designated areas only. For day-use facilities, visitors can rent wooden picnic tables starting at ₱500 PHP (~$9.00 USD), native huts (kubo) for ₱1,500 PHP (~$26.00 USD), or large floating cottages accommodating up to 20–25 people for ₱5,000 PHP (~$88.00 USD).
