I’m thinking this company might be a scam. They advertise direct billing and pay and claim. I was rushed to a hospital after a motorcycle accident. I am covered in 2nd degree burns. They did not pay anything yet and now they’re saying they don’t have to. I paid over 100 for a 10 day trip and they aren’t helping me. When I was at the hospital the insurance company told me on the phone it could take up to 3 hours for the direct billing to happen. I waited and nothing happened so I had to pay my bill and now I’m still having to deal with this company. It doesn’t look like I’ll be paid back anything. This company took my 100 and didn’t give me ANY help after I had to be rushed to the hospital. I will remove or edit this review if they end up doing what’s right but as of right now DO NOT use this company. I don’t know how they legally get away with this!!!!!!! There are other things they offer like reimbursement for transport and other stuff which I’m not even asking for I just want my hospital bill paid for. WHAT A DISGRACE!!!!!!! Treating people like this when they need help the most and after they’ve paid your company to take care of you in an emergency is seriously immoral. Shame.

I purchased World Nomads travel insurance for my trip to Costa Rica, thinking I’d be covered in case anything went wrong. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. During my trip, I developed a painful ear infection and needed medical attention. When I returned home, I tried to file a claim, and that’s when the nightmare began. Their website is an absolute mess. The claim portal acts like a loophole designed to block you at every step. At first, it wouldn’t even let me open the claim form. After trying multiple times over several days, I finally managed to access it and started uploading my receipts, documents, and proof of medical visits. Just as I was nearly done, the system kicked me out and now it won’t let me log back in or continue my claim. Every time I try, I’m redirected in circles or hit with error messages. There’s no clear way to contact support that actually helps. It feels like they intentionally make the process impossible, hoping you’ll just give up. For a company that claims to protect travelers, the lack of accessibility and transparency is shocking. I’ve used other travel insurance companies in the past without any issues, but World Nomads has been by far the worst experience. If you value your time, your money, and your peace of mind, stay far away from World Nomads.

I used them for years, thinking they were a reliable insurance company, and first claim they seem to not cover anything. Egg on me but good to know I no longer have to use them as their insurance is a waste.

Stay away from World Nomads. Despite language in their agreement which I believe clearly stated I would have coverage for a missed connection, the company denied my coverage, costing me over $5K for a missed cruise. I appealed twice and received no satisfaction. Typical insurance, relying on their arbitrary interpretation of the "fine print" to steal your money
