Playa San Jose is a standout tourist attraction nestled along Avenida Costanera in Encarnacin. This expansive beach offers stunning views of the Paraná River and the city of Posadas on the opposite bank, creating a picturesque setting that rivals lakes or seas despite being a major river. Visitors frequently praise the calm, warm, and shallow waters which make it ideal for leisurely wading, while the clean, fine sand invites long walks along the shoreline.
Although the river’s depth may limit swimming opportunities, the variety of nearby restaurants and the pleasant beach promenade make it a favorite spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Guests appreciate the natural habitat, noting the presence of local wildlife such as piranhas, adding to the authentic river experience. During hotter months, the sand can become quite warm, so beachgoers should come prepared with suitable footwear or take advantage of the nearby dining venues that often provide changing facilities.
Whether you are seeking a tranquil place to unwind or a scenic location for a casual stroll, Playa San Jose combines natural beauty with a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination in Encarnacin.

7 months agoA nice big beach with a nice view of the Paraná River and Posadas on the other side. It is hard to believe that this is a river because its size and color reminds one of a lake or the sea. Paraná Riverit is second in length in South America. The river is home to many animals including piranhas. During the hot season the sand on the beach is very hot so it is very difficult to walk barefoot.

2 months agoNice beach, not good for swimming though. The water is dirty and not deep enough to swim in. There are a great variety of reataurants near. There is no place to change clothes. You need to ask in a restaurant. The beach promenade is nice for walks.

6 years agoVery clean and nicely done artificial beach. No pets, food, glas bottles are allowed there so that the sand stays clean and safe. Lifeguards. Opens only in summer after the 1st of december.

5 years agoWho knew a landlocked country would have such a nice beach. It’s not the Bahamas but it’s a nice spot to spend the day. The water is very shallow and warm so great for kids. There are people renting umbrellas and chairs but on a quiet day (early March, midweek) most of the businesses are closed until after sunset.
